“Take and eat.” This simple statement conjures up a host of thoughts and feelings for most of us. The first thought that comes to my mind is food, obviously. I enjoy food. It is a wonderful gift from God. It is currently fall here in the North Country of New Hampshire and to me that means apples and pumpkins. Applesauce. Cider. Pie. Every fall these things bring a little extra joy to my life. And this joy should point us to our very good God.

Many of them are quite pitiful and require only a few seconds of thought or a quick review of the context of the passages to refute. However, there are some that require a little more thought or in-depth study to resolve. The two accounts of the circumstances surrounding Judas’s death found in the gospels and Acts are somewhere in the middle of this scale of difficulty in my opinion. Here is how a skeptic is likely to word this challenge:
“Did Judas hang himself, or did he fall to his death? The Bible says both!”
Let’s take a look at the passages in question here and consider a few things

Read MoreIn my first Army unit we were a bit of a hodgepodge of young Soldiers who were preparing for war. By my observation I noticed two kinds of leaders who were training us. Read MoreI know what you’re thinking: “What on Earth is the ‘pericope adulterae’?” I’ll tell you what it is; it is a very difficult subject to discuss with Christians for the first time. “Why?” you may ask. Well, if I told you that there is a very well known passage of scripture in your Bible that New Testament scholars believe was most likely not originally written by the authors, how would you feel?

Read Morehere are not many books of late that I’ve purchased for others or recommended as highly - outside the Bible of course - as Dane Orlund’s Gentle and Lowly: The Heart of Christ for Sinners and Sufferers.
