two Indices I maintain

One of the challenges of living in an information overload age is keeping track of digital resources that you might want to read again. In July, I wrote about one way of doing that: building a digital library. This month I want to explain another way: the digital index.

Years ago, before I got involved with computers, I decided to index all the books in my paper library by scripture reference. I had a huge binder, and it had a lot of entries, but I could not maintain it. It turns out that I had to give away my paper library anyway.

But after I started posting on websites and blogs, I soon realized that I needed a way to retrieve something I posted on a given text of scripture. Some of the blogs themselves have a scripture index page, but I wanted one place where I could index links from all my writings.

For example, suppose I decide to write something about Matthew 10:28. A scripture index of all my writings where I already mentioned that verse would contain these 42 links:

I created a folder on my computer for my scripture index. That was good news for me. Now I can keep track of this information. The good news for you is that you can also access that folder because I put it in Dropbox.

Every time I write something for posting on the internet, I index it to that Dropbox site. The site contains a folder for each verse of the Bible.

I have also indexed the available digital links to Maranatha Advent Christian Devotional. This index contains not only the Maranatha devotions I wrote but also the devotions written by the other Advent Christian writers.

Bookmark these links in your browser and you will have access to an URL file for each digital document. Click on the URL, and it will take you to the post.

You're Welcome!
