In the midst of doing the research for my eventual essay, "Recollecting an Advent Christian Political Theology: A Retrieval of Advent Christian Thought on the Relationship Between Church and State”, I had the good fortune of uncovering a digitized version of I.C. Wellcome’s pamphlet, “Should Christians Fight?”. I became aware of the pamphlet thanks to Peter Brock’s book, Pacifism in the United States, From the Colonial Era to the First World War, which offers astounding detail about the origins of Advent Christian pacifism. Regarding Wellcome’s pamphlet, I found it included in a PDF featuring a number of other religious essays. For sake of convenience, I have removed those essays and made the digital form of the pamphlet available below. It includes some of my notes (which may be obscure) and highlights that informed my essay. I hope this encourages further interest in this topic (pacifism and political theology more broadly) and period among Advent Christians.
